USED UNDERWEAR FOR MEN – CONTROLLED, LEGAL & RESPONSIBLE

Used underwear for men exists — but it is not meant to be cheap, uncontrolled or anonymous.

At ZLC, selected men’s underwear from prototypes, fittings and production variations is released through a controlled, legal and responsible life-cycle process.

This page explains where to buy used underwear for men, how it is handled, and why pricing, hygiene and traceability matter.

WHERE TO BUY USED UNDERWEAR FOR MEN

CONTROLLED PLATFORMS AND LIFE-CYCLE RELEASES

Used underwear for men can be found through specialised platforms and controlled life-cycle releases rather than open mass resale.

At ZLC, selected garments from prototypes, fittings and production variations are released in limited quantities, prioritising legality, hygiene and traceability over mass resale.

A Pilot Project — Collaboration & Contact

This life-cycle initiative is currently operated as a pilot project.

We collaborate with individuals and partners who encounter surplus, archived or non-standard underwear through production processes, fittings or controlled use. This may include samples, prototypes or quantities that should not be discarded.

If you work with or manage used underwear, socks or similar garments — or have insight into textile flows within production — we invite you to get in touch. Selected collaborations help us refine responsible handling, reuse and material recovery models.

Our approach builds on existing circular systems. For example, we already work with regenerated materials, such as swimwear produced from recycled fishing nets using regenerated nylon solutions.

Responsible use, controlled release and material recovery are central to how we approach textile value.

HOW OUR CIRCULAR PROCESS WORKS

This Life-Cycle section explains how used men’s underwear can be handled in a responsible, discreet and sustainable way. Below you’ll find answers about buying, selling and donating used men’s underwear within a circular fashion model, with focus on hygiene, legality and European charity practices.

HOW OUR LIFE-CYCLE PROJECT GIVES OLD UNDERWEAR NEW PURPOSE

Explore how ZLCopenhagen turns used men’s underwear into a responsible, sustainable resource. Through our sustainable fashion recycling approach, every donation helps reduce textile waste, supports charitable initiatives, and extends the life of valuable materials in a discreet and meaningful way.

We collaborate with a local recycling station to ensure that selected model samples and customer donations are given a responsible second life. Every piece is handled discreetly, cleaned carefully and handled discreetly, cleaned carefully and processed responsibly while supporting community-driven recycling initiatives.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

USED UNDERWEAR LIFE-CYCLE

Is there a market for used men’s underwear?

Yes. Across Europe, interest in second-hand men’s underwear is increasing due to sustainability, circular fashion and textile reuse. Life-cycle based initiatives support responsible buying, selling and donating within transparent, eco-focused systems that reduce textile waste.

Can you sell used men’s underwear?

Yes. Private resale is generally allowed in the EU, provided items are clean and exchanged between consenting adults. Some specialised platforms and circular fashion initiatives allow controlled resale under strict hygiene guidelines.

Do second-hand shops take underwear?

Most European second-hand shops do not accept used underwear due to hygiene regulations. However, selected circular fashion projects may accept clean items that meet clearly defined condition standards.

Is it OK to donate used underwear?

Yes, if the receiving programme explicitly allows it. Sustainability-focused initiatives may reuse, recycle or responsibly repurpose textiles as part of a circular fashion model.

Can you give old underwear to charity?

Most mainstream charities decline used underwear. Circular fashion programmes may accept clean items for reuse or textile recycling to minimise environmental impact.

Should you donate bras and underwear?

Yes, if items are clean and accepted by the organisation. Some circular and sustainability-driven initiatives welcome selected underwear for resale, reuse or material recycling.

Does Oxfam take underwear?

Typically not. Most large European charity organisations accept only new, unworn underwear. Always check individual charity policies.

Should I throw away old underwear?

Preferably not. If wearable, consider donating it through a circular fashion initiative. If not suitable for reuse, textile recycling allows fibres to be repurposed instead of discarded.

Is it okay to buy used underwear?

Yes, when purchased from a trusted source that ensures transparency and proper cleaning. Many consumers choose second-hand garments for environmental and sustainability reasons.

Is it sanitary to buy used underwear?

It can be, provided the item has been washed at high temperatures and inspected for quality. Responsible life-cycle models include cleaning and quality control before reuse.

Can we wear used underwear?

Yes, as long as the garment has been freshly washed. As with all second-hand clothing, washing again before use is recommended.

How to clean second-hand underwear?

Wash at 60°C or use an antibacterial detergent. Line-drying in sunlight can provide additional natural disinfection.

Can I sell used underwear online?

Yes, on platforms that explicitly allow it and follow hygiene standards. Mainstream resale apps typically restrict listings of used underwear.

Can I sell used underwear on Vinted?

No. Vinted does not currently allow second-hand underwear listings under its platform guidelines.

Can you make money selling worn underwear?

Yes. In niche markets, clean and well-maintained items can sell at varying prices. Earnings depend on demand, condition and perceived value.

Do people buy second-hand underwear?

Yes. Interest is driven by sustainability, textile reuse and personal preference, and continues to grow across Europe.

How much does used underwear sell for in the UK?

Prices typically range from £5 to £50 per item, depending on material quality, brand and condition.

Does ZLCopenhagen sell used underwear?

No. ZLCopenhagen does not operate as a fetish or resale marketplace. The Life-Cycle initiative exists to explain responsible handling, donation, reuse and recycling of underwear within a sustainability-driven framework aligned with our mission and vision.

THE LIFE-CYCLE INSPIRED COLLECTION

THE LIFE-CYCLE INSPIRED COLLECTION

Our Life-Cycle principles also influence how we design new products – focusing on durability, responsible materials and long-term use.

Alongside this life-cycle initiative, ZLC continues to develop and release new, unworn collections designed and produced according to our core principles of durability, responsibility and long-term value. These garments are not part of the used or archived flow described on this page.

In parallel, we are expanding a dedicated space for archived and life-cycle garments, where selected pieces from prototypes, fittings and controlled production variations may be released. This section is currently under development and will be introduced gradually.

We also welcome dialogue with individuals or partners who hold high-quality garments, materials or insights related to responsible reuse, donation or circular textile practices. If you have experience, ideas or items that deserve a considered second life, we are open to listening.
