WHAT IS CSR?
CSR – CRAFTING BEAUTY RESPONSIBLY
At ZLCOPENHAGEN, Corporate Social Responsibility is not a label or a trend. It is the foundation of how we think about materials, people and impact. CSR means taking responsibility for the full lifecycle of a product – from raw materials and manufacturing to packaging, logistics and the consequences our choices have beyond fashion.
BEYOND FASHION: MATERIALS, WASTE AND CARBON FOOTPRINTS
For us, sustainability starts with materials. Reducing waste, rethinking packaging and minimizing carbon footprints are not side projects, but ongoing commitments. We focus on improvement at every stage of production, knowing that responsibility is built through many small, concrete decisions rather than one perfect solution.
CRAFTED WITH CARE: PEOPLE MATTER
CSR is also about people. Who makes the products, under what conditions, and with what rights? We actively distance ourselves from exploitative labor practices such as forced labor, child labor and unsafe working environments. Ethical production is not optional – it is a minimum standard. Products should never come at the cost of human dignity.
RESPONSIBILITY WITHOUT PRETENDING PERFECTION
We do not believe in moral perfection or empty claims. Responsibility is a process. Balancing affordability and sustainability means making conscious trade-offs, being transparent about limitations and continuously improving rather than claiming to be “finished”.
BEAUTY WITH PURPOSE
CSR at ZLCOPENHAGEN is about meaning. Products are not neutral – they reflect values, systems and priorities. By focusing on responsible materials, ethical production and reduced waste, we aim to create products that carry intention as well as design. Beauty should not be separated from responsibility.
ZLCOPENHAGEN stands for a way of producing, consuming and thinking where people and materials are treated with respect – because responsibility is not a marketing message, but a shared obligation.

TOXIC BY DESIGN
Too many clothes are produced, bought and discarded at an unsustainable pace. Prices are pushed so low that the real costs are shifted elsewhere – onto the planet and onto workers in the global textile industry. These costs are paid through environmental damage, unsafe working conditions and wages that make a dignified life impossible. In some cases, the workers are children, or parents forced to choose between exploitation and hunger.
Every second, enormous amounts of waste are generated worldwide. The long-term consequences are not reflected in today’s prices but passed on to future generations. If this pattern continues, it is not a question of *if* living conditions will deteriorate, but *when*. This is why CSR cannot be optional. Responsibility today is a condition for livable conditions tomorrow.
OUR RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibility begins with concrete choices. We work with collaborators who commit to fair wages, safe working environments and the rejection of child or forced labor. Our aim is not only to set standards internally, but to create awareness throughout the value chain – from production to the people who ultimately wear the products. Decent working conditions and respect for human dignity are not ideals; they are non-negotiable requirements.
At ZLCOPENHAGEN, responsible practices are not a slogan but an ongoing process.
Our approach to packaging reflects a broader commitment to sustainability, circular thinking, and reducing environmental impact across the full product lifecycle.
ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING, A PRACTICAL COMMITMENT
Most of our packaging is recyclable and made with recycled materials, carrying FSC certification where applicable.
We continuously evaluate materials and suppliers to reduce waste and improve durability without increasing environmental cost.
If you want a deeper understanding of how packaging choices affect the fashion industry, see our guide to sustainable fashion, recycling, and environmental impact.
REUSE, REDUCE, RETHINK & RECYCLE
We actively promote reuse, reduction, and recycling as practical actions rather than abstract ideals.
Packaging is a key area where small design decisions can have long-term consequences.
To encourage a shift in mindset, we reference research and frameworks from organizations such as the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and share relevant insights through our CSR articles and updates.
LOWER IMPACT THROUGH CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Reducing carbon footprint is not a one-time fix. We test alternative shipping options, lighter materials, and smarter logistics as part of an ongoing improvement process.
Feedback and new ideas are actively reviewed as we adapt to better solutions over time.
JOIN THE TRANSITION
Sustainability works best when it is shared. By choosing reuse, reducing unnecessary consumption, and supporting responsible production, individual actions add up.
Our goal is to make those choices clearer and more accessible—so progress becomes measurable, not symbolic.
At ZLCOPENHAGEN, sustainability is not separated from design. It is embedded in how products are made, packaged, and delivered—with long-term responsibility as the benchmark.
