OCTOBER 7TH LIBERATION DAY

The world isn’t perfect, and fashion can’t ignore the injustices that plague society. After the heartbreaking events of October 7th, 2023, I could no longer stay silent. The devastation I saw inspired me to use ZLCOPENHAGEN as a platform not only for creativity but also for advocating human dignity. While I am vocal in my support for Palestine, my mission extends far beyond one issue.

I stand with all oppressed people, regardless of where they are. Fashion is a powerful tool—not just for expression but for change. It can inspire conversations and highlight issues that often go ignored. At ZLCOPENHAGEN, we believe in using our platform to fight for justice and equality, creating designs that not only represent cross-cultural harmony but also social responsibility.

HELLO, IT’S ME

Hey there! I’m Zahid Latif, the heart behind ZLCOPENHAGEN. First of all, thank you so much for being here. I’m excited to share my passion for menswear clothing and menswear fashion with you. This journey has been all about blending Danish minimalism with Punjabi vibrancy in ways that feel both personal and powerful.

ZLCOPENHAGEN isn’t just a brand—it’s a reflection of my cross-cultural experiences and my drive to create meaningful, sustainable fashion. Growing up in Denmark, with roots deeply tied to Pakistan, I’ve always felt like I was bridging two worlds. It’s a balance I continue to explore, both in life and in fashion.

EMBRACING IMPERFECTION & CROSS-CULTURAL DESIGN

Building ZLCOPENHAGEN has been a creative adventure, full of ups and downs, especially in the world of menswear style. Perfection is not the goal—growth is. Whether it’s the designs or the process, I embrace imperfections because they reflect the human effort and continuous growth behind this brand. ZLCOPENHAGEN is far from perfect, and that’s what makes it real. My focus is on blending Danish simplicity with the rich textures and colours of my Punjabi heritage to create a cross-cultural design language that tells a story.

For me, fashion is more than just what you wear—it’s a medium for expressing who you are and where you come from. The imperfections in my work symbolize the beauty of cultural fusion, where both my Danish upbringing and Punjabi roots shine through.

LEARNING, CREATING, AND INNOVATING FOR A SMARTER FUTURE

With an engineering background from the Technical University of Denmark and a degree in fashion design from the Royal Danish Academy, my journey in production has been shaped by a desire to build smarter, more efficient systems. My work in LEAN production has allowed me to explore innovative approaches to production design, always seeking to optimize processes for greater efficiency.

At DTU, I specialized in LEAN, Quality- & Supply Chain Management, applying principles from Just-In-Time (JIT) production to reduce waste and improve efficiency across industries—from fashion to manufacturing. I’m always fascinated by how systems can be optimized for better outcomes. My knowledge of AI tools and automation plays a critical role in my work, helping to shape modern production techniques that align with the needs of the 21st century.

A PERSONAL STRUGGLE AFTER OCTOBER 7TH, 2023

Life took a dramatic turn for me after the events of October 7th, 2023. The devastation, pain, and injustice I witnessed deeply affected me, forcing me to confront questions about identity, humanity, and the role I play in the world. As someone who has always navigated two cultures, I found myself in a deeper identity crisis, questioning where I stood in the geopolitical conflicts around me.

The tragedy made me realize that I could no longer remain silent. The silence I had maintained about global injustice felt wrong in the face of such human suffering. I felt compelled to speak out—not just as a designer but as someone with a platform. While fashion may seem disconnected from these struggles, I believe it can be a vehicle for change. ZLCOPENHAGEN is now more than just a creative project; it’s my voice in the fight for justice and human dignity.

Through my work, I stand with those whose rights have been stripped away—whether in Palestine, Yemen, or any other part of the world. The fusion of cross-cultural design in my brand reflects my belief in unity and solidarity, even in a divided world.

BOLLYWOOD & CULTURAL INSPIRATION

Growing up, Bollywood wasn’t just entertainment for me—it was a vital part of my cultural education. Bollywood films became a bridge between my two worlds—India and Pakistan, two nations with shared history yet divided by politics. The music, the colours, and the dance scenes were an escape into a world where borders seemed to dissolve.

Bollywood news, especially about the latest releases, was always eagerly awaited in my household. The emotional melodies of Bollywood songs, the intricate dance choreography, and the rich visual storytelling all influenced my creative direction. Attending screenings of the latest Bollywood movie near me became a cherished ritual, one that deepened my connection to both Indian and Pakistani culture.

Bollywood taught me that despite the India Pakistan war rhetoric, art, music, and culture have the power to unite. These inspirations directly influence the designs at ZLCOPENHAGEN, where the energy of Bollywood blends with Scandinavian minimalism, creating a fresh, vibrant look.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support, patience, and invaluable contributions.

With all my gratitude,
Zahid Latif

CAN I BRIDGE TWO WORLDS IN ONE?
A CROSS-CULTURAL ROMANCE

First of all, if you are looking for a professional store with mass-produced garments and perfection in everything, this may not be the place for you. I suggest you find a well-established brand elsewhere. This webshop isn’t perfect, and I’m completely fine with that—kindly.

I am the person behind this brand. I was born in Aabenraa, Denmark, but my roots are deeply tied to Pakistan. You may be wondering: How can you be born in Denmark and yet be from Pakistan?

IT STARTED WITH A COW: A GEOPOLITICAL JOURNEY THROUGH EUROPE

Now, here’s where the story takes an interesting twist. My father took a bus across Europe to Denmark, and in a quirky twist of fate, married my mother over the phone. Her arrival in Denmark marked the beginning of my journey—one shaped by the unique blend of two distinct worlds. This cross-cultural romance is at the heart of my identity, and it fuels my creativity.

A NAME THAT TELLS A STORY

My name, Zahid, means “self-denying” in Arabic, and it beautifully captures the essence of who I am—a blend of Danish calm and Punjabi vibrancy. Let’s dive deeper into this narrative, where the Scandinavian design ethos meets the lively spirit of Punjab. Our logo, a square word “Zahid” created from Arabic letters, is a visual snapshot of my mixed identity—a perfect balance of Danish simplicity and Punjabi richness.

WOVEN TOGETHER: A GEOPOLITICAL TAPESTRY OF HERITAGE

My journey truly begins in Punjab, a region whose spirit flows seamlessly through both Pakistan and India. This land, rich in history and cultural significance, has long been a cradle for a shared heritage that transcends modern geopolitical borders. Despite the lines that divide us, we find unity in our language, cuisine, and traditions—a testament to a shared identity that existed long before political division.

TRADITIONS TORN, BORDERS BOLSTERED: CROSS-CULTURAL CONNECTION

Punjab’s story is one of vibrant colours, joyful festivals, and an enduring legacy of craftsmanship that spans both sides of the border. The Punjabi language serves as a melody resonating across millions of hearts, a bond that geopolitical boundaries cannot sever. Whether it’s the cuisine of Lahore or Amritsar, our shared love for food and cultural expression binds us together in ways that transcend national lines.

Religion may draw lines on maps, but our cultural roots run deeper, weaving us together beyond superficial divides. This rich synthesis of culture and tradition is what I bring to ZLCOPENHAGEN—a celebration of unity in diversity, where every creation honors the cross-cultural romance that defines who we are.

A TAPESTRY OF SHARED CULTURE: INDIA & PAKISTAN

THE INFLUENCE OF BOLLYWOOD AND CRICKET ON MY CULTURAL IDENTITY

Punjab’s story is one of vibrant colours, lively festivals, and an enduring legacy of craftsmanship that transcends borders. Growing up, my cultural landscape was deeply influenced not just by my Pakistani heritage but by the larger South Asian world, where Bollywood movies and cricket India Pakistan matches played a significant role in shaping my worldview.

BOLLYWOOD: WHERE INDIA IS PAKISTAN, AND PAKISTAN IS INDIA

Bollywood was more than just entertainment—it became a cultural bridge, blending the worlds of India and Pakistan. Whether it was the language, the dance, the songs, or the art, Bollywood created a shared experience that united families across both sides of the border. I grew up absorbing Bollywood news, eagerly awaiting the latest Bollywood movie near me, which shaped my love for both cultures. The melodies of Bollywood songs, with their powerful emotional undertones, wove their way into my upbringing, making me fluent in both Urdu and Hindi.

CELEBRATING FESTIVALS AND CULTURE THROUGH BOLLYWOOD AND CRICKET

Bollywood taught me to appreciate the diverse yet connected traditions of Diwali and Eid, where despite the India Pakistan war, the shared joy of these festivals is undeniable. Likewise, cricket India Pakistan matches brought communities together in an intense but shared celebration, reinforcing the notion that our differences are superficial.

CULTURAL UNITY IN BOLLYWOOD, ART, AND CRICKET

Just as Bollywood shaped my love for vibrant visuals and music, cricket intensified my sense of shared culture between India and Pakistan. Whether watching the iconic cricket matches or indulging in the rich flavors of Punjab’s cuisine, the bond across borders was undeniable. This sense of cultural unity, transcending India Pakistan war rhetoric, is central to my identity and influences the designs at ZLCOPENHAGEN.

ZLCOPENHAGEN: WHERE BOLLYWOOD, CRICKET, AND DESIGN MEET

At ZLCOPENHAGEN, we celebrate the news of Bollywood and cricket-inspired rivalry that unites rather than divides. Our brand reflects the fusion of Bollywood’s art, the spirit of Punjabi tradition, and the clean lines of Scandinavian design. Each collection is a reflection of how Bollywood movies and the shared cultural identity of India and Pakistan influenced my personal and creative journey.

HONORING THE LEGACY OF BOLLYWOOD AND BEYOND

Despite the geopolitical tensions, Bollywood continues to be a unifying force, showing how India is Pakistan, and Pakistan is India in so many ways. At ZLCOPENHAGEN, I honor these connections through designs that celebrate unity in diversity. Whether through the iconic influence of Bollywood or the high-stakes drama of a cricket India Pakistan match, the ties that bind the two nations run deep. We are more than the sum of our parts, and ZLCOPENHAGEN is a testament to that shared history.

FROM AABENRAA TO SHEIKHUPURA

A CROSS-CULTURAL JOURNEY

Growing up in Aabenraa, Denmark, I was immersed in the simplicity and elegance of Scandinavian culture. However, life took a fascinating turn when my family and I spent a year and a half in Sheikhupura, Pakistan. This experience marked a significant chapter in my geopolitical identity crisis as I navigated between my Danish upbringing and my Pakistani heritage. Immersing myself in a vastly different world, I found myself embracing a true cross-cultural experience.

In Sheikhupura, every moment was an exploration. From the bustling markets overflowing with vibrant colours and aromatic spices to the warm-hearted people who welcomed us with open arms, I became captivated by the richness of Pakistani culture. It was in these moments that I truly began to understand the beauty of my Danish-Pakistani geopolitical perspective.

EAST MEETS WEST IN FASHION

Despite the language barrier and cultural differences, I embraced the traditions and customs of Sheikhupura, gaining valuable lessons about resilience, community, and the power of diversity. This blend of experiences sparked my passion for fashion, bridging East and West, where I aim to unite the minimalism of Danish design with the vibrant spirit of Punjabi culture. You can learn more about this vision in our Danish-Punjabi Design collection.

This experience ignited my desire to bridge the gap between cultures, celebrating the unique identities that shape our world. Today, as I navigate the intersection of East meets West fashion, I draw inspiration from both sides, infusing my designs with a spirit of unity, inclusivity, and the rich narrative of a cross-cultural journey.

This blend of cultural heritage has profoundly shaped my awareness of sustainability, ethical craftsmanship, and the preservation of our shared history.

WHY I STAND WITH THE OPPRESSED: A DESIGNER’S CALL FOR JUSTICE

Not everything in the world reflects the clean lines and beauty of Danish design. In fact, much of what we see is tainted by injustice. After the heartbreaking events of October 7th, 2023, I was confronted with the harsh realities of oppression and human suffering on a global scale. This deepened my sense of responsibility, pushing me to take a stand and use my platform as a designer to speak out against injustice.

Through ZLCOPENHAGEN, I don’t just create fashion—I advocate for human dignity and freedom. While my solidarity with the Palestinian cause is a key part of my mission, my commitment goes beyond any single issue. I stand for all oppressed people across the globe, whether in Palestine, Yemen, or any region where basic human rights are denied. It is my belief that fashion can be a powerful medium not only to express creativity but also to amplify the voices of those who are unheard. By doing so, ZLCOPENHAGEN becomes more than a brand—it becomes part of a broader movement for justice and equality.
