Bespoke underwear starts with your body, your preferences and the way you want a garment to feel. At ZLCOPENHAGEN, I create men’s underwear to individual measurements, with personal attention to cut, fabric and construction.
As a designer and production engineering student at DTU, I bring together textile knowledge, design experience and a technical interest in how garments are made. Each commission begins with a conversation about your needs and what is possible.
BESPOKE UNDERWEAR: MADE TO YOUR MEASUREMENTS
Standard sizes cannot account for every difference in body shape or personal preference. Bespoke men’s underwear offers an individual approach, with measurements and design decisions considered together.
We discuss the silhouette, coverage, waistband and support you prefer. Fabric stretch and garment construction also influence the fit, so measurements are one part of the design process.
This is a premium service priced individually. The cost reflects the design work, material selection, pattern development and construction involved. The scope and price are agreed before work begins.
DESIGN, TEXTILES AND GARMENT CONSTRUCTION
My approach combines how a garment looks with how it behaves when worn. A fabric’s softness, stretch and recovery affect comfort, while seams, elastic and panel placement influence support and movement.
Depending on your project, we can discuss:
- Fabric: texture, composition, stretch and care requirements.
- Cut: coverage, proportions and the silhouette you prefer.
- Construction: seams, waistband and areas that need support or room.
- Everyday use: how you wear, wash and maintain your underwear.
CAN YOUR FAVOURITE UNDERWEAR BE ALTERED?
Have a favourite pair that no longer fits comfortably? You can enquire about underwear alterations and repairs before deciding to replace it.
Possible changes may include waistband adjustments, replacing worn elastic or repairing a seam. Suitability depends on the original construction, available fabric and the condition of the garment.
Stretch fabric that has lost its recovery cannot always be restored through an alteration. I assess what is practical and explain the limitations before recommending work. Garments submitted for assessment must be freshly washed and dry.
PERSONAL CONSULTATIONS ON FIT AND MATERIALS
You do not need to commission a new garment to begin a conversation. A consultation can help you understand a fit problem, compare textile options or explore whether an existing pair can be adjusted.
You can also ask for guidance on changes to discuss with a local sewing professional. Advice is based on the garment and your needs; some projects require an in-person assessment.
A CONSIDERED APPROACH TO MATERIALS AND USE
Material choice, care and repair are part of my design thinking. Where an alteration is suitable, it may help you keep wearing a garment you already value.
Bespoke production is not automatically sustainable. Its environmental impact depends on the materials, production process and how the finished garment is used and maintained. We discuss these choices in relation to your project.

WHAT IS BESPOKE UNDERWEAR?
Bespoke underwear is created for an individual customer, using their measurements and agreed design preferences. At ZLCOPENHAGEN, the discussion includes fit, fabric, cut and construction.
ARE TAILORED AND TAILOR-MADE UNDERWEAR THE SAME AS BESPOKE?
These terms are sometimes used interchangeably, but services vary. Tailored underwear may describe an adjusted existing garment, while tailor-made underwear may refer to a new commission. Ask whether the service includes individual pattern development, adaptations to an existing pattern or alterations.
BESPOKE UNDERWEAR AND ALTERATIONS: PRICING
DKK 2,000 per pair. This price applies to either a new pair of bespoke underwear made to your measurements or an agreed alteration of a pair you already own.
For existing underwear, I first assess the fabric’s condition and garment construction. The intended changes and what can realistically be achieved are agreed before work begins.

CAN YOU ALTER UNDERWEAR I ALREADY OWN?
You can enquire about an assessment. Some garments can be adjusted or repaired, but worn fabric, limited seam allowances or the original construction may restrict what is possible.
CAN I REQUEST ADVICE WITHOUT ORDERING BESPOKE UNDERWEAR?
Yes. You can enquire about a consultation on fit, textiles or possible alterations. The scope and any consultation fee are agreed beforehand.
