PRODUCTION ENGINEERING AT DTU

PRODUCTION SYSTEMS, QUALITY & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

I study Production Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), focusing on how products, processes and production systems can be analysed, improved and managed.

My studies combine production technology with Lean, quality management, supply chain management, sustainability and data-driven improvement. I work with methods and tools for identifying waste, improving process flow, supporting quality and developing more efficient production systems.

My earlier background in product and clothing design gives me a practical perspective on engineering. Experience with materials, construction, prototypes and small-scale production now connects with a more systematic understanding of manufacturing and production processes.

LEAN PRODUCTION & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

Lean is an important part of my Production Engineering studies. I work with principles including continuous improvement, waste reduction, process flow, Just-in-Time (JIT) and the Toyota Production System.

The objective is not simply to make production faster. It is to understand how processes interact, where resources are lost and how production can be organised to create value with greater consistency and efficiency.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Quality is closely connected to production performance. My studies include quality management, process improvement and structured problem-solving, including approaches such as PDCA and DMAIC.

I am particularly interested in how quality systems, standardised processes and continuous improvement can support reliable production and provide a foundation for regulated manufacturing environments such as GMP.

SUPPLY CHAIN & PRODUCTION PLANNING

Production does not operate in isolation. Through my studies in supply chain management, I work with the relationship between sourcing, inventory, production, logistics and customer demand.

This includes understanding how decisions across a supply chain influence cost, responsiveness, capacity and overall production performance.

SUSTAINABILITY & LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT

Sustainability is another part of my engineering work. At DTU, I have worked with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to examine environmental impacts across a product’s life cycle and identify where improvements may have the greatest effect.

This perspective connects with my earlier experience in materials and product development and has strengthened my interest in resource efficiency, circularity and responsible production.

DATA & DIGITAL PRODUCTION

Modern production increasingly depends on data. I work with tools including Power BI and Python and have studied topics related to automation, machine learning and Industry 4.0.

My interest is in using data to understand production performance, identify patterns and support better operational decisions rather than treating digitalisation as an objective in itself.

FROM DESIGN TO PRODUCTION ENGINEERING

My background in design and my studies in Production Engineering represent two stages of the same professional development: understanding both the product and the system that produces it.

Through DTU and ZLCOPENHAGEN, I continue to develop this combination of practical product knowledge and engineering methods, with particular interest in production, Lean, quality, supply chain, materials and data-driven improvement.
