WHAT IS EID 2026? FAITH, QURBANI & COMMUNITY IN ISLAM

WHAT IS EID 2026? FAITH, QURBANI & COMMUNITY IN ISLAM

WHAT IS EID 2026 – AND WHY IS IT CALLED QURBANI EID?

WHAT IS EID?

Every year, millions around the world ask: What is Eid?
Let’s answer it here – openly, simply, and from the heart.

Eid is one of the most important Islamic holidays, celebrated twice a year:

Eid al-Fitr – at the end of Ramadan
Eid al-Adha – also known as Qurbani Eid, which honors Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice in obedience to Allah.

“Qurbani” means sacrifice. During Eid al-Adha, many Muslims offer an animal as a symbolic act of gratitude, obedience, and faith.

But beyond the ritual lies the meaning: faith, gratitude, and community.

In Denmark, Eid is celebrated with prayer, shared meals, gifts – and the phrase “Eid Mubarak”, which simply means “Blessed Eid.”

Whether you’re in Copenhagen, Karachi, or London, Eid marks a moment of connection – to God, to family, and to who we really are.

FROM “LOST” TO RECONNECTED: A FORMER EX-MUSLIM’S PATH BACK TO ISLAM
Some call it “leaving the faith” – others, frafalden, a Danish word describing someone who has left Islam.
But what happens when silence isn’t peace? When the distance becomes a desert?

Our community in Denmark – Frafalden Genfandt Islam – is the first to tell the stories of those who found their way back.

WHAT DOES EID AL-ADHA 2026 MEAN TO YOU?

MY QURBANI WAS FOR MY MOTHER – A FILM, A PRAYER, A LOVE

I’m celebrating Eid al-Adha 2026 for one extraordinary woman:
My mother.

She loved a particular film. I didn’t understand it back then – but now I do.
It was called Nikaah. I was just a child when we watched it together.
I heard the music –
She heard something deeper.

It wasn’t until after her passing that I understood why that story meant so much.

PARADISE – BENEATH HER FEET

We often forget something essential:
The woman – the mother – is not just playing a role; she is the source of life, the beginning of everything.

Islam teaches us that paradise lies beneath her feet – not as a poetic saying, but as a truth we are meant to live by every day.

My mother was everything to me:
She gave me security, strength, and wisdom – and yes, she made sacrifices I only understood much later.

That’s why my Qurbani in Eid 2026 is dedicated to her.
Not out of obligation, but as a sincere prayer – an expression of deep love and lasting gratitude.

Returning to Islam wasn’t just about faith – it was about reconnecting with her.
Even when I walked away from the path, she remained – quietly guiding me back with her love and patience.

For me, paradise is not some faraway place.
It begins at her feet.

A QURBANI FOR MY MOTHER

There was a film my mother and I watched together again and again. It was called Nikaah.
I was young then – drawn to the music, the colors, the romance.
But she loved something deeper – something I didn’t understand until she was gone.

In the opening scene, a woman speaks with grace and strength about what it means to be a woman.
Today, I hear that same scene with different ears – and now I understand why it was her favorite.

Here are her words, translated into English:

“I am a woman – not just born, but sent as a force of life from heaven.
For centuries, I have nourished the earth and painted the world with love.
I gave man life, raised him, told him stories, loved him,
and sacrificed my youth for his dreams.
I am everything he has ever called home.”

This is why my Qurbani for Eid al-Adha 2026 is for her.
It’s not tradition. It’s not duty.
It’s love. It’s prayer. It’s memory.

HONOUR YOUR MOTHER. YOUR SISTER. THE WOMAN IN ISLAM

When Eid arrives, we often speak of celebration, food, and gifts.
But behind it all stands someone who gave everything – and never asked for anything in return.

The Muslim woman – your mother, your sister, your wife – carries entire families on her shoulders.

Qurbani is about sacrifice.
But it’s not just about sacrificing an animal.
It’s about laying down your pride, your ego – and your forgetfulness.

For many of us who once left Islam – the “frafalden”, or spiritually lost – the way back wasn’t found in debate.
It was found in quiet reflection. In the voice of our mothers.
She was our first love. Her footsteps still lead the way to paradise.

Appreciate her. Listen to her. Thank her – before it’s too late.
