They see how the media portrays the West as victims while smaller nations like Pakistan are often manipulated into submission. The US-backed coup against Imran Khan serves as a clear example of how larger powers still dictate the policies of smaller nations to serve their own geopolitical interests.<\/p>\n
One of the pivotal moments leading to Khan\u2019s ouster was his visit to Russia on February 24, 2022\u2014the same day Russia began its military operation in Ukraine. Khan\u2019s trip had been planned months in advance, focused on strengthening Pakistan-Russia trade relations. The deals discussed were intended to provide much-needed economic relief to Pakistan, including access to cheaper oil and wheat.<\/p>\n
However, this did not sit well with the US. The Washington establishment expected Pakistan to side with them in the Ukraine conflict. But Khan chose neutrality, a stance that aligned with Pakistan\u2019s interests, not the US\u2019s. As a result, the US exerted pressure on Pakistan, and in a diplomatic cable leaked later in 2023, it was revealed that US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu threatened Pakistan with isolation if Khan was not removed.<\/p>\n

Countries like Nicaragua, despite facing their own struggles, are starting to push back against the influence of powerful Western nations that have traditionally dictated global affairs.<\/p>\n
This is part of a larger trend where Latin American nations, particularly those with left-wing governments, have begun breaking ties with Israel in solidarity with Palestine. Bolivia and Venezuela had already cut off relations with Israel, and Nicaragua’s move signals that resistance against Western-backed powers is growing. These countries are not just standing up for Palestine; they are pushing back against a broader neocolonial agenda that seeks to control and suppress their sovereignty.<\/p>\n
The parallels between Nicaragua\u2019s defiance and Pakistan\u2019s situation are striking. In both cases, we see smaller nations being pressured to fall in line with the US\u2019s geopolitical goals. Nicaragua, with its deep-rooted history of resisting US imperialism, has been under constant threat, facing coup attempts, sanctions, and military intervention. Just like Pakistan, the country is navigating the delicate balance of maintaining sovereignty while under intense pressure from Washington.<\/p>\n

In Nicaragua, for instance, the US has a long history of meddling. The CIA-backed Contra death squads of the 1980s, the 2018 coup attempt, and the current sanctions all show how Washington will stop at nothing to maintain its influence. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) even ruled against the US in 1986, declaring its actions in Nicaragua as illegal. Yet, despite this, the US has ignored these rulings, just as it continues to do with any international body that challenges its authority.<\/p>\n
From Pakistan to Nicaragua, we see a clear pattern of how the US operates to maintain its global dominance. When leaders like Imran Khan and Nicaragua\u2019s Sandinista government stand up for their people and refuse to bow to external pressures, they are swiftly punished\u2014through regime change, diplomatic isolation, or economic sanctions. The fact that these nations are being targeted for standing by their principles\u2014whether it’s neutrality in global conflicts or condemning human rights abuses\u2014shows how deeply entrenched US imperialism remains in today\u2019s geopolitical landscape.<\/p>\n
